Riparian Web Portal

Riparian Web Portal

The Riparian Web Portal (RWP) is an award-winning website designed to encourage Albertans to build healthier riparian areas by providing:

  • access to riparian data
  • summary statistics for waterbodies
  • resources for conservation and restoration

Join the 3rd Annual Riparian Web Portal Contest with Lakeland College

Environmental Science students learn how riparian health data is collected and network with environmental professionals. They discover real-world projects and help you showcase your organization or community's work. Prizes are available for the best "Project on the Ground." Learn more, and register below.

During the 2025 contest, we will be working with Lakeland College's Agriculture Sustainability students,  guided by the student's professor, Dr. Nicole Nadorozny.

Contest Timeline:

  • Jan 27th - 28th: Riparian Web Portal 101 training for students.
  • Feb 6th: Contest launches! We'll connect Lakeland College’s trained environmental science students with project coordinators like you. These students will serve as ambassadors for the RWP and help highlight your projects on the portal.
  • Feb 6 -13th: Your student team will contact you to schedule a virtual meeting. They will come ready with questions about your project, and you'll provide the information they'll need to upload it on to the portal. A full instruction document will be provided.
  • Mid-February - Early March: Students build their Riparian Web Portal project and may contact you with additional questions or meeting requests.
  • March 24th and 25th: Students present their projects (coordinators are welcome to attend) and prize winners are announced!
