Background
NSWA developed a Strategy to Improve Wetland Management in the North Saskatchewan Watershed to improve collaboration, mobilize knowledge, and implement wetland monitoring. Part of this strategy involves strengthening the technical capacity of water professionals, municipal staff, and stakeholders by providing training opportunities focused on wetland systems.
The NSWA recently received a grant from the Government of Alberta's Watershed Resiliency and Restoration Program to fund a pilot for this wetland education sponsorship opportunity. This pilot program covers the cost of wetland training for technicians and staff within the North Saskatchewan River Watershed.

NSWA has selected 3 courses* individuals can access through the sponsorship:
Course: Natural Asset Management Fundamentals
Level: Beginner
Education Centre: Royal Roads University

Commitment: Online > 8 Modules - 20 to 24 hours

Level: Advanced
Education Centre: University of Alberta
Commitment: Online > 39 hours + 2 full-day field trips
*Other courses related to wetland management and health up to $1000 total cost will be considered. Please contact us to discuss further.
*This sponsorship opportunity will only cover up to $1000 total cost, which includes course fee and mileage.
Eligibility
Participants will be reimbursed for the cost of 1 wetland course, up to a maximum of $1000 CAD (mileage + course cost). Please note this opportunity is on a first come first serve basis.

The NSWA Wetland Education Sponsorship Opportunity is available to individuals within the North Saskatchewan Watershed in Alberta who are staff of:
- Municipalities
- First Nations and Metis communities
- Not for profits engaging in work related to watershed and/or wetland health
Ineligible Applicants:
• Government of Canada staff
• Government of Alberta staff
• Individuals working in the private sector
